$11,000 Raised to Benefit Feed My Starving Children

Roseville, Calif. – A local effort to pack 500,000 meals for malnourished children around the world recently raised nearly $11,000 at a dinner fundraiser hosted by Randy Peters Catering and Event Planning. The money raised will cover the cost of nearly 50,000 meals.

The Feed My Starving Children MobilePack event will be held at William Jessup University in November, with a goal to package more than 500,000 meals.  Every packed meal costs 22 cents, so each guest’s $45 ticket to attend the fundraising dinner provided about 204 meals to feed malnourished children.

The fundraiser supports the third annual Sacramento region MobilePack Event, which packed a total of 786,000 meals for malnourished children in 2011 and 2012.

The year’s MobilePack event is being held at William Jessup University in Rocklin, beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15 and ending at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17.

More than 2,500 volunteers from civic organizations, schools, businesses, and churches throughout our community are expected to participate. Registration opens up online Monday Oct. 15. Each shift extends for two hours.

“We are very grateful to Randy and Lisa Peters for partnering with us to create a major fundraising event,” said Kris Glass, a coordinator of the Feed My Starving Children MobilePack. “Their partnership provided a great framework for us to be able to raise funds to pay for 50,000 meals for malnourished children.”

In addition to dinner, the event featured a silent auction, dinner entertainment, and raffles that took place throughout the night.

“The Feed My Starving Children MobilePack is a great event for the community to come together, particularly in the week before Thanksgiving,” said Randy Peters. “We are blessed to be able to be a part of this excellent endeavor that will make a real difference in the lives of children around the world.”

Feed My Starving Children is a non-profit organization who coordinates MobilePack events to rally volunteers to combine and pack ingredients scientifically formulated to address the needs of malnourished children. In 2011, they provided over 133 million meals and a MobilePack program of more than 565,000 volunteers. In most cases, the food is provided to organizations who operate orphanages, schools, clinics, and community feeding programs that contribute to long-term community development. Ninety-two cents of every dollar donated goes directly to the Feed My Starving Children food program to distribute nutritious meals in nearly 60 countries through more than 90 missions and humanitarian agencies.
