Ashley Rose of Manteca’s East Union High Signs with William Jessup

Rocklin, Calif -– William Jessup University and the women’s basketball program are proud to announce the signing of Ashley Rose, a point guard out of East Union High School in Manteca.  Rose, who was named the MVP of the VOL this past season, also set the school record for three pointers made in a season.

Rose was the third consecutive Lancer to be named VOL MVP, and her team rode her stellar season deep into the playoffs, before losing to eventual state champion St Mary’s in the Sac Joaquin Section DII Semifinals.

The Lancers won their first 16 games of the season, highlighted with an upset victory in the championship game of the Tracy Lion’s Club Tournament over Napa, where Rose scored 21 points and had six steals, and took home the tournament’s MVP trophy.  Ashley averaged 18.5 points, five assists, and 3.5 steals per game during the season for EU.  She made 81 three pointers in just 26 regular season games, setting the EU all-time record in the process.  She leaves the Lancers as the 7th leading scorer in school history, doing so in just two Varsity seasons.

Rose played club ball for Nor Cal Elite, one of the top AAU programs in the country.  Her work over the summers with Coach Davin Johnson and the rest of the Nor Cal staff has prepared her well for the next level.

‘Ashley is going to be a great player for us for a long time,’ Assistant Coach Melissa Triebwasser said.  ‘Her ability to hit the three will open things up for us, and she is also a great passer with excellent court vision.  She has worked hard to become a solid defender as well, and I think she will be an impact player for us on both sides of the floor.’

‘I couldn’t be happier to bring in such a great player and great person into our program and our family.’

Ashley is also excited to continue her career with the Lady Warriors.  ‘I like the small school learning environment and the commitment the school has to a growing women’s basketball program.  I am excited to take the next step in my education and my basketball career.’

Rose will major in Public Policy at WJU with an eye towards a career in law enforcement when her playing days are over.  The Warriors compete in the NAIA, as a member of the California Pacific Conference.
