Electric Vehicle Charging Stations in Auburn

SourcePCTPA

Auburn, Calif. – The Placer County Transportation Planning Agency (PCTPA) and the City of Auburn hosted a ribbon cutting celebration to recognize the installation of two new electric vehicle charging stations in Auburn.

A key initiative of PCTPA is to support multiple ways for people to get where they need to go.  The new electric vehicle charging stations provide more options for people traveling by electric vehicle or looking for a place to charge.

“Auburn continues to grow and foster a booming small business community,” said Auburn City Councilwoman Bridget Powers.  “Technological amenities can help our region garner attention from larger employers with an interest in supporting the alternative-powered vehicle movement.  The new charging stations are just one way Auburn is leading Placer County as a frontier of innovation.”

PCTPA partnered with Clipper Creek, Inc, a local Auburn business dedicated to improving the Placer region’s environment by producing American made electric vehicle charging stations.  Transportation accounts for one-third of the greenhouse gases produced in the country.  Electric vehicles produce no tailpipe emissions and rely only on renewable energy sources.

“PCTPA is committed to improving Placer County’s regional transportation system for all modes of transportation,” said PCTPA Executive Director Celia McAdam.  “As our region continues to grow we can expect to see an increase in vehicle traffic and decrease in road quality and capacity unless we do something locally to change it.  To maintain our quality of life her in Placer County, we will need to invest over $3.5 billion in transportation improvements over the next 30 years.”

PCTPA is considering placing a transportation sales tax measure on the ballot this November.  A local source of transportation funds is necessary to improve major transportation issues throughout Placer County.  Local funds will make the County more competitive in acquiring matching funds from the state and federal government.
