Worked in Roseville as a recruiter
Sacramento, Calif.- District Attorney Jan Scully announced today Judge Gary E. Ransom sentenced Victor Sanchez-Millan to five years probation and one year in the county jail. Sanchez-Millan was remanded immediately to begin serving his term. He will also be required to register for life as a sex offender.
Sanchez-Millan was a sergeant in the Marine Corps who worked in Roseville as a recruiter. At a high school job fair, he met a 17 year-old high school junior who expressed an interest in the Marines. He befriended her, then pursued her sexually, leading to a two months long sexual relationship.
While in uniform, Sanchez-Millan took the victim to restaurants, the movies and a Sacramento County hotel in his government vehicle. He also provided her with alcohol. The victim’s parents allowed her to go with the defendant because they thought she was attending official recruitment-related events.
Sanchez-Millan entered pleas on October 30, 2008 to two felony counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor and two misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He also faced charges in Placer County which were dismissed in light of the Sacramento County disposition.
Deputy District Attorney Caryn Dubke said, ‘Mr. Sanchez-Millan, for sexual gratification, grossly violated a position of trust. His abuse of power devastated the lives of the victim, her family, and the defendant’s own family.’
