Lake Tahoe Fireworks Extravaganza

South Lake Tahoe readies for Fourth of July

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev.- The 38th consecutive award-winning fireworks display combined with scenic beauty, outdoor recreation, nightlife and entertainment makes South Shore one of the most sought-after locations to spend the all-American holiday.

Ooo’s & Ahhh’s

South Lake Tahoe‘s “Lights on the Lake” is a ‘must-do’ for vacation plans for this Fourth of July. The spectacular show is rated as one of the top five displays from the American Pyrotechnics Association and is perfectly timed to an assorted mix of music loved across generations. Sponsored by Tahoe Douglas Visitors Authority and produced by Zambelli Fireworks, the show is scheduled to begin at 9:45 p.m. and simulcast on local radio stations KRTL-FM 93.9 and KOWL-AM 1490. ALL ABOUT THAT VIEW

Finding the perfect spot to enjoy the spectacular backdrop is crucial for maximum enjoyment, with several options. The best quality for viewing is found on or near the lake including Nevada Beach, Timber Cove Marina, Lakeview Commons/El Dorado Beach, and Edgewood Tahoe. Showing up early to these locations is beneficial space-wise. Another popular way to view is directly on the water on a personal vessel, a specialized cruise, or a private charter.

Hard Rock Casino‘s “Rock the Roof” viewing celebration on top of their parking garage is open to all ages. Tickets are $65 and include a buffet from 4 -8 p.m. prior to the viewing party.

For a premier, less-crowded experience, Edgewood offers a luxury Independence Day celebration. Food, drinks, fun, and views are available from several spots on property, including The Lodge, The Clubhouse, and The Bistro.

The inaugural “Family Fun Festival” at the Harveys Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena will provide hassle-free viewing of the fireworks along with activities including bounce houses, face painters, balloon makers, BBQing, and music to get the party started and keep it going. Tickets are $20-$25 and recommend securing in advance.

Patriotic Parade

The South Lake Tahoe Fourth of July Parade at 10 a.m. will honor local veterans and highlight community members, businesses, organizations, sport teams and bands. The parade route begins at Ski Run Blvd., heads west on Highway 50 to Al Tahoe Blvd. and ends at Bijou Community Park.

Outdoor Entertainment in July

The Lake Tahoe Outdoor Concert Series at Harveys Lake Tahoe Hotel and Casino has a variety of concerts throughout the summer with the holiday week featuring comedian Trevor Noah, July 5; and well-known acapella group, Pentatonix, with guest star Rachel Platten on July 7.

Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival at Sand Harbor State Park makes its appearance for the 47th season starting July 5 and continues through August. The festival offers on stage seating with stunning lakeview for its productions seven nights a week. Headlining is a fan favorite of Taming of the Shrew along with A Million Dollar Quartet, a Tony-winning rock ‘n’ roll tribute that boasts powerhouse performances of rock’n’roll, R&B, and country hits.
The “Music on the Lawn” all-ages free concert series at Valhalla Art, Music and Theatre Festival, launches July 1 at 1 p.m. The historical, quaint, lakefront venue is located off Highway 89 past Camp Richardson Resort.
