Lincoln Hills Foundation Supports Seniors First

Auburn, Calif. – Seniors First Executive Director Jamee Horning is pleased to announce receipt of a recent donation by the Lincoln Hills Foundation, an organization managed by residents of Sun City Lincoln Hills to raise funds for senior services in the community.

The Foundation’s board of directors voted to support Seniors First to further the organization’s mission to “promote and fund innovative solutions that will enable senior residents of the Lincoln community to remain in their homes and enjoy their independent lifestyles.”

The $5,000 donation will be applied to Seniors First’s Recreation & Respite (R & R) program, a social daycare for seniors with memory or physical impairments.  Specifically, the money will be used to purchase hot, nutritious lunchtime meals for the participants.  Foundation President Jerry Johnson touted the value of the nearby Recreation & Respite program by stating, “R&R allows seniors who are challenged by certain physical or mental limitations to remain in their homes by supporting both the participants and the caregiver.”

R & R is designed to meet the needs of caregivers while providing recreational, social and educational opportunities for the participants.  The program is offered from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. 5 days a week, providing free time for caregivers to accomplish routine tasks and appointments or simply take a much-needed break from pressures of caring for a dependent.

Participants enjoy such activities as games, guest performers, exercise, storytelling and crafts, all while under the supervision of a professional staff and team of volunteers. Cost for the program is $50 per day, and scholarships are available for qualifying participants.

Seniors First also operates a second R & R Program in Auburn and participants are invited to take advantage of both locations at their convenience.  To learn more, please contact Seniors First at (530) 889-9500.

Seniors First is always in need of friendly, dedicated volunteers and financial support to underwrite programs and services for Placer County’s older adults and their families.
