A few minutes past two o’clock in the afternoon, two men described as Hispanic male adults entered the Millenium Smoke Shop on Lincoln Way in the Auburn area. Both had bandanas covering their faces and at least one was armed with a handgun. The two suspects robbed the business of cash, tobacco related products and cigars. They fled the business in a vehicle described as a Champagne colored 4 door sedan.
A broadcast was sent to surrounding agencies over law enforcement radio with the suspect description. Placer County deputies monitored the vehicle traffic on the freeway and Deputy Bob Brodovsky caught up with a vehicle matching the description of the suspects on West bound 80 near Rocklin Rd. Deputy Brodovsky followed the suspect vehicle toward Roseville and was soon joined by additional Placer County patrol units as well as patrol units from Rocklin PD, Roseville PD and Placer County Detectives.
The suspect vehicle exited the freeway on Riverside Ave in the City of Roseville where a felony car stop was initiated. Two males were detained without incident and quickly identified as the suspects responsible for the robbery. A pellet gun was located inside the vehicle. This pellet gun was an exact replica of an actual firearm.
Stolen property from the robbery was located in the vehicle, including two recently smoked cigars lying in the ashtray. The two cigars that they chose to smoke immediately were fat ‘Kuba Acid Deluxe’ and apparently sell for about $12 each.
Placer County Deputies arrested Kevin Navarrete, 18 yrs and Eduardo Heredia, 19 yrs. Navarrete is from the Roseville area and Heredia is believed to be from the Orangevale area. Both suspects were booked at the Placer County Jail for robbery. Their bail will be $50,000. The jail does not allow tobacco products inside.
