Roseville, CA. The All American Speedway, Roseville, and Infineon Raceway, Sonoma, will host two of the premier NASCAR Camping World Series events in 2008. With the introduction of Camping World as the national sponsor of NASCAR’s top developmental series, uniting both the West and the East, holding the first race of the season at the All American Speedway will draw national attention to the third-mile closed track in Roseville. The division was previously known as the Grand Nationals and the Winston West Series.
The Toyota/NAPA Auto Parts 150, to be held at the Speedway on March 29, will have national television coverage by HDNet, which broadcasts in high-definition, and will also air on the Speed Network. With two days of on track activities, a midway with interactive and sponsor displays, live music, and spectator giveaways, the atmosphere will create the unique NASCAR experience that compels fans to arrive early, stake out their seats for hot laps and qualifying, line up for driver autographs, and stand cheering each lap of the race. Grand Marshal for the opening ceremony will be Keena Turner of the San Francisco 49ers.
According to Bill McAnally, promoter of the Roseville season opener ‘Since the announcement, we have seen ticket orders from throughout the Bay Area, California and Oregon. There is an excitement about this race because this series has traditionally been the stepping-stone for drivers to top NASCAR racing. Having this caliber of race at the All American Speedway and at Infineon Raceway shows the interest that NASCAR has in this region.’ Infineon Raceway will host the Camping World Series on June 21 as a companion event with the Sprint Cup race on June 22.
The March 29 event will feature two additional popular NASCAR divisions – the SRL Southwest Tour Series season opener in its first time at the All American Speedway, and the popular Modified division which races on the track throughout the season. Youngsters will be battling it out in two very exciting contests in Mini Cup and Baby Grand cars for the Western Scale Racing Association.
2007 Grand Nationals Champion Mike David was on hand to take a few laps during the track test on March 1st. Other notables who tested were former track champion Jimmy Inglebright, Moses Smith, and Eric Holmes the 2006 champion, now driving for Bill McAnally Racing. The drivers were impressed with the recent improvements made to the Speedway and are looking forward to a full field of top NASCAR teams as the 2008 competition begins.
Bill McAnally Racing is producing the race in partnership with the All American Speedway. BMR is an Antelope-based, state-of-the-art race car and driver development company. Not only is owner Bill McAnally a winning driver, as an owner he has 30 career Grand National West wins and three West series championships.
The All American Speedway is owned and operated by the Placer County Fair Association. The Speedway has operated continuously since the mid 1950’s. In 2008 the track was sanctioned by the NASCAR Whelen All American Series featuring local home track racing. The last time a Grand Nationals race was held at the track was in the early 1980s. The series enters its 55th season in 2008 as the oldest stock car racing circuit on the West Coast.
