Auburn, Calif. – Placer Community Foundation (PCF) is currently accepting grant applications for its Youth Development Program. Grants will be awarded to nonprofit organizations serving the western slope of Placer County and whose projects address the needs of underserved youth ages 14-21.
Jointly funded by Umpqua Bank and the PCF Advisor Giving Circle, $20,000 in grants ranging from $3,000 to $5,000 are expected to be awarded. Priority will be given to projects that serve economically disadvantaged youth, and whose proposals demonstrate the anticipated positive impact on youth, leverage resources and/or demonstrate sustainability, and include a reasonable project scope and budget.
Prevention approaches to youth development have been shown to reduce the likelihood that behaviors such as violence, teen pregnancy, and alcohol or drug abuse will occur. In addition, youth demonstrate a positive identity when they gain knowledge and skills, have a sense of personal well-being, and have a sense of connection and commitment to others.
“We continuously monitor our community to better understand the nature of local needs,” said Veronica Blake, CEO of PCF. “Investing in our youth is not only critical to our region, but a necessary approach in helping them navigate through life, and successfully transition into adulthood.”
Placer Community Foundation will be holding two meetings at their office to address the grant application process.
