Roseville, Calif.- The 2010 Placer County Fair has been recognized in several categories in the annual Western Fair Association (WFA) Achievement Awards competition. Three First place wins were chalked up by the Fair’s marketing programs for the 2010 “Wild and Free” Fair. WFA is composed of member fairs and large special events in the western United States plus major shows in Canada. The Placer County Fair competed against other Fairs of similar size.
Top honors went to the Fair for their “Come Back to the Fair” free gate admission program and their extremely popular featured event – the USLMRA Lawnmower Races. A First Place win also went to the 2010 Wild & Free Fair logo art, by artist Larry Hausen, featuring farm animals participating in the Lawnmower Races and Speedway events. They received Second Place for Newspaper Advertisements, plus awards for the Fair Program produced by the Press Tribune and KE Spencer & Co., and their Monster Truck and Demo Derby radio ads.
Joan Bartosik, CEO of the Placer County Fair, Rose Smith, Contracts Manager, and Karen Spencer, Marketing Director were on hand to receive the awards at the annual WFA Achievement Awards dinner in Reno. “It’s really gratifying to be noticed for all the hard work our team put into re-inventing the Placer County Fair, but our best reward was that our attendance increased by 143% because of the high level of entertainment and traditional Fair exhibits that were in place this year,” said Bartosik.
Looking forward to another award-winning Fair, the 2011 event is sure to catch the eye of the judges in the next competition. The 2011 Placer County Fair is “Goin’ Hollywood” June 23-26. Plans are in the works for a Hollywood-Style Premiere and Stars on the Walk of Fame!
