Placer County Tourism Gets a Boost

Auburn, Calif. – The Placer County Visitors Bureau (PCVB) will join representatives from Placer County Wine Trail, Placer County Ale Trail, PlacerGROWN and Placer County Mountain Mandarin Growers Association at Sunset Magazine’s upcoming annual SAVOR the Central Coast event taking place later this month in San Luis Obispo County.

The goal of this collaboration is to showcase the diversity and quality of tourism options here in Placer County.  From wineries and craft breweries to restaurants, hotels and world-class recreation opportunities, Placer County is a travel and tourism destination unlike any other.

While the event may highlight the wineries, restaurants and crops of the Central Coast, Placer County Visitors Bureau CEO Mora Rowe believes Placer County can more than compete at the venue.  “Tourism is a key economic driver for our area and one we are proud to promote.  All of our partner businesses and organizations are helping us put our best foot forward at this event and I’m looking forward to representing our County together,” commented Rowe.

PCVB is hosting a booth at the event where representatives will pour Placer County wines and craft beers, highlight seasonal ag products, and feature a variety of Placer County travel and recreational opportunities.  Event attendees will enter for a chance to win one of several Placer County ‘Escapes’, trips designed to showcase the best that the County has to offer.

For example, local hotel, restaurant, winery and retail establishments have collaborated to create a Girls’ Getaway Weekend.  Other ‘Escapes’ include A Taste of Placer County featuring mandarins, honey and other Placer-perfect products, a Wine Trail Experience with an up-close and personal behind the scenes winery tour coupled with food and wine pairings, and an Ale Trail Experience which will introduce the County’s newest partnership among local breweries.

Lisa Ford, who spearheaded the organization of the new Ale Trail, is eager to present the award-winning brews that were crafted by Placer County breweries including; Knee Deep Brewing Company, Auburn Alehouse, GoatHouse Brewing Company, Loomis Basing Brewing Company, and Out of Bounds Brewing Company.  “I am thrilled to promote Placer’s newest tourism opportunity – craft beer – and show what these small but passionate producers can do,” remarked Ford.

Representing the Placer County vintners, Jocelyn Maddux of Lone Buffalo Vineyards will help pour wine from 20 Placer County wineries.

The Sunset Magazine ‘Savor the Central Coast’ event is just one of PCVB’s many annual travel and tourism outreach efforts. The organization travels throughout the United States to promote the County and attract visitors to the region.
