Rachel Constantini named WJU’s Interim Women’s Soccer Coach

Rocklin, Calif. – William Jessup University Athletic Director Lance Von Vogt announced recently that Rachel Constantini will be taking over as Interim Head Women’s Soccer Coach for the 2016 season.

“We’re very excited to get a coach like Rachel Constantini to lead our women’s soccer team,” Von Vogt said. “(Rachel) was a terrific soccer player, and a prized graduate from William Jessup. She understands the ins and outs of this program and knows how to lead a team from a Christ-centered mindset, which we believe to be vital.”

A graduate of William Jessup University in 2011 with a degree in Liberal Studies, Constantini was a member of the women’s soccer team where she appeared in 67 games and scored 8 goals. Following her graduation, Constantini continued her educational growth by earning her master’s degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University.

“I could not be more excited,” Constantini said. “This is a dream for any alum, to come back and promote your program, and keep moving it in the right direction. We have a lot of talent this year’s squad, so I couldn’t be more excited for this group of ladies that I get to work with.”
“Any time you can bring back one of your own to continue growing a program, and when they have the skill sets like Rachel has, you have to take advantage of this opportunity,” Von Vogt said.

Constantini joined the William Jessup University coaching staff in 2014 as an assistant, and played a key role in the Warriors’ transition from the California Pacific Conference to the Golden State Athletic Conference which they now reside.

“I have a great relationship with a lot of the girls, and we’ve been building these relationships for a couple years now,” said Constantini, who has the luxury of already knowing her players on a personal level. “I’d like to bring them a lot of success in their closing time at William Jessup.”

The 2016 women’s soccer season officially gets underway on Monday, August 22 when William Jessup plays host to the College of Idaho at 5 p.m.

“William Jessup is an incredible university that changes people for the better,” Constantini said. “I am so excited that I get to be a vessel that brings outsiders in, and hopefully help them transform their lives on the field, off the field, in the classroom, and spiritually.”
