Raley’s Projects Huge Savings with Ecolab Program

Raley’s Family of Fine Stores announces the rollout of a new cleaning and sanitation program, saving approximately 4 million gallons of water, lowering energy consumption by 7.5 million kWh’s of energy, saving 100 tons in shipping, and reducing labor by over 23,000 hours a year.

Implementation began at the end of 2014 and will be complete and in all stores by the end of April, 2015.

“Ecolab’s new program is just one of the ways our company is leveraging innovation to help us reduce our overall environmental impact, “said Megan Burritt, Raley’s Director of Wellness and Sustainability. “New solutions like Whiteout and LmENTARY specifically help us achieve significant water and energy savings, and using SolidSense in our sinks translates into meaningful shipping and waste reductions.”

The Northern California based supermarket chain is the first retailer in North America to implement the entire Ecolab program which focuses on simplifying food safety processes to ensue proper cleaning and delivering operational savings through the use of less labor, water, energy and waste.

“Ensuring that we provide our customers the cleanest and safest shopping experience possible is critical to what we do at Raley’s,” said Toni Hofer, Raley’s Senior Manger of Food Safety, Quality Assurance, and Retail Compliance. “Ecolab’s new program helps make cleaning easier and faster for our team members which not only translates into saving on labor and utilities, but also ensures we have as much time as possible throughout the day to focus on what’s most important – serving our customers in the safest way possible.”

Ecolab and Raley’s recently partnered on the production of a press video featuring LmENTARY and SaniSave – 2 of the solutions within Ecolab’s new program.
