Rocklin Planning Commission approves Clover Valley 5/0

The Rocklin Planning Commission voted unanimously last week to approve Clover Valley Partner’s Reduced plan for homes, which will open Clover Valley to the public for the first time with more than 366 acres of open space, parks and trails.

More than 300 Rocklin residents attended the two-day hearing where the Planning Commission heard from both sides.

Those who attended the hearing to show support included the newly-formed Rocklin Taxpayers for Sensitive Planning, a group of Rocklin residents who want to ensure smart, sensitive planning in Rocklin.

They especially support the Reduced plan for Clover Valley because ‘it’s a win-win situation where our city will benefit without having to burden Rocklin residents with the cost of Clover Valley,’ according to Michael Bouchard, one of the co-founders of the taxpayers group.  ‘There are over 2,950 Rocklin residents who support the plan, and we want to educate the rest of the community about this important plan.’

Public speakers in support of the plan applauded the landowners for listening to the community over the years and responding with a plan with 41% fewer homes and 522% more open space than what is allowed in their legal Development Agreement with the City of Rocklin.

‘The Clover Valley Partners have been patient way too long,’ said Louise Kirkish, a 34-year old Rocklin resident.  ‘This is a beautiful project that the citizens of Rocklin will be proud of.’

The plan will go before the Rocklin City Council in the coming weeks.
