Woodbridge Elementary first to pilot program with 25 student teachers
Roseville, Calif. Roseville City School District has partnered with CalState TEACH, a California State University online teacher credential program, to provide student teachers from the CalState TEACH program an opportunity for real-world classroom experience.
The student teacher program is being piloted at Roseville’s Woodbridge Elementary School, where there are currently 25 CalState TEACH student teachers working each day in the classrooms.

“This is a win-win partnership for everyone involved,” said Kari Hazen, principal of Woodbridge. “Our students greatly benefit by having more educators per classroom, allowing for more small group discussion and additional interventions. Teachers receive extra support in their classrooms and student teachers are getting practical, collaborative experience and training to prepare them for their future careers.
The student teacher pilot program was first launched last summer at Woodbridge Elementary and then fully implemented in the 2014-2015 school year. The program will be offered again this summer, at a time when summer school programs are essentially non-existent.
