Roseville Man arrested in Facebook Party Case

A Roseville man, who promotes huge parties on Facebook, was arrested by Placer County Sheriff’s deputies yesterday on charges of conspiracy and contributing to the delinquency of minors.

On July 16, 2012, Placer County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a large party in the 8200 block of Quartzite Circle in Granite Bay, where they encountered hundreds of juveniles who were drinking alcohol. As deputies were breaking up the gathering, partygoers threw bottles and other objects at them. The primary occupant of the home was arrested for contributing to the delinquency of minors and a second subject was arrested for driving under the influence as he left the party.

After receiving a tip that another large party was scheduled to occur at a separate location in Loomis, deputies began an investigation. In searching event posts on Facebook, deputies learned that Zachary C. Fischer, 19, a self-described party promoter, had planned and organized the July 16 party and was now planning a second party on August 3.

Detectives located the Facebook event posting and found that more than 4,000 juveniles had been invited to the upcoming party. In reviewing these two party posts on social media, it was obvious that Fischer was the main party planner. He was hiring juveniles to tend bar, provide security and serve as DJ’s at these events, which promoted underage drinking.

Detectives located Fischer yesterday and he was arrested on charges related to the July 16 party. He was booked into the Placer County Jail where he later was released on bail.

The Placer County Sheriff’s Office encourages parents to monitor their children’s Facebook accounts. The Sheriff’s Office requests assistance from all citizens in helping reduce alcohol consumption by minors. Underage drinkers are more likely to drive while intoxicated and increase the danger for the general public.
