Roseville Police Bust Nets $40,000 Cash, Guns and Meth

Roseville Police officers recently contacted a probationer and searched his home in Carmichael, finding a large quantity of illegal drugs, several firearms, and other evidence of high-level drug sales, including more than $40,000 in cash.

Roseville narcotics detectives suspected that Joshua Holmboe was both selling illegal drugs directly to users and also supplying lower-level drug dealers, and that some of those drugs were then being sold and used in Roseville.

On September 23, narcotics detectives and officers from Roseville’s Crime Suppression Unit went to Carmichael in search of Holmboe.   They spotted him driving on Fair Oaks Boulevard near Sutter Avenue, detained him without incident, and then conducted a probation search on his nearby home.   An investigator from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security assisted in the search.

In searching Holmboe, his vehicle and his home, officers seized over a pound of methamphetamine, a large quantity of prescription narcotics, packaging materials and other evidence of drug sales.  They also seized several loaded firearms, including both handguns and long guns, and more than $40,000 in currency.    Two of the firearms were stolen; one had been taken during a residential burglary in Citrus Heights and the other during a residential burglary in Reno.

Joshua Frederick Holmboe, age 25 of Carmichael, was arrested on suspicion of selling methamphetamine and narcotics, being a felon in possession of firearms, and other related charges.  He’s being held without bail in the Sacramento County Jail.

The Roseville Police Department is committed to stopping the flow of illegal drugs into our city, and often go to other communities in the region to track down suspected suppliers.  Methamphetamine and narcotics are destroying the lives of addicts and their families, and are the motivation behind many, if not most, property crimes.  Drug addicts steal from residents and businesses, and then exchange stolen goods for cash or drugs to support their habits.    Narcotics enforcement is an important part of our effort to protect the quality of life in our city.

We urge anyone struggling with drug addiction to get help, by talking to their health care provider, employee assistance program, or other community service provider.  Placer County residents can call Placer County’s Adult System of Care at (888)886-5401, 24 hours a day, for information about a variety of local resources.
