Roseville, Calif. – Organizers of the Sacramento Capital Cup announced that they have surpassed their $500,000 fundraising goal for this year’s golf tournament. To date, 24 Sacramento area executives have raised $581,142 for 20 local charities. They have raised more than $1 million for local charities since the tournament’s inception last year. Fundraising is still ongoing.
“Our executives continue to impressively raise the bar,” said Curt Rocca, managing partner at DCA and principal tournament organizer. “When the average golf tournament raises about $5,000 for charity and our tournament is in a completely different stratosphere, it speaks to the commitment of the executives and really shines a spotlight on the Sacramento region’s giving spirit.”
The top two fundraising executives for the Capital Cup have each raised more than $100,000. The executives are Rick Wylie, president of Villara Building Systems, and Bob Clark, president of operations for Clark Pacific. Wylie is raising funds for Bayside Church of Granite Bay; Clark is raising funds for the American Heart Association of Sacramento. Geoff Brown, president of USA Properties Fund, is another fundraising standout, with a solid hold on third place.
The Sacramento Capital Cup is a three-day tournament that adopts the historic Ryder Cup format — two teams competing over a three-day period. Each of the participating executives is raising funds for a designated charity of their choosing. In addition, the winning team of golfers shares a $50,000 grand prize to split among their charities.
The Sacramento Capital Cup is scheduled for September 30 – October 2. The tournament will feature play at El Macero Country Club, Winchester Country Club, and Granite Bay Golf Club.
