Auburn, Calif.- In response to client demand, Seniors First will soon launch a new program designed to provide homebound seniors with hot meals and daily social interaction.
My Meals, the most recent addition to the extensive list of senior-focused services offered by Seniors First, will be a subscription-based meal program targeted to homebound seniors, and those recuperating from recent illness or hospitalization.
Seniors First received a grant from Lincoln Hills Foundation in the amount of $14,440 to fund the pilot phase of the My Meals program. The program will launch in the city of Lincoln on April 1. The foundation’s president and grant chair recently presented Seniors First Executive Director Jamee Horning with the generous donation.
“We are thrilled to be able to offer this level of service to our clients in Lincoln. Through the generosity of the Lincoln Hills Foundation, we are now able to better serve homebound seniors in the community and individuals who are temporarily confined due to a recent hospitalization or convalescent care,” commented Horning.
The grant will partially offset the cost of the meals and the delivery to nearly 4,000 Lincoln residents over the course of the next year. Meals will be delivered hot, Monday thru Friday (except for holidays) by trained volunteers. Soon anyone of any age may purchase meals, however the pilot program will limit subscriptions to low-income, homebound seniors who are 60 years of age and older.
Lincoln Hills Foundation’s support of My Meals underscores the organization’s mission to “promote and fund innovative solutions that will enable senior residents of the Lincoln community to remain in their homes and enjoy their independent lifestyles.”
Seniors First is always in need of friendly, dedicated volunteers and financial support to underwrite programs and services for Placer County’s elderly and their families.
