The Grateful Dead’s Mickey Hart at Charles M. Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa

Percussionist to discuss Woodstock music festival

SANTA ROSA, Calif. -On Saturday, August 3, the Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Center welcomes the Grateful Dead’s Mickey Hart, California Coastal Commissioner and former Regional Parks Director Caryl Hart, and historian Dennis McNally for “50 Years of Evolving Consciousness,” a conversation reflecting on the legendary Woodstock music festival five decades later. The event is held in conjunction with the Museum’s current exhibition, Peace, Love, and Woodstock.

The idea to invite the Harts to speak at the Museum was suggested by Jean Schulz, widow of Charles M. Schulz and President of the Museum’s Board of Directors. “Caryl and I became friends due to a mutual interest in the environment and her work to expand regional parks and open space in Sonoma County. At the same time, Mickey was traveling around the world researching for his world music album Planet Drum,” Jean Schulz said. “I think they offer a valuable perspective on the issues explored by the Woodstock generation, such as caring for the land and each other, and how these resonate today, both locally and globally.”
