Folsom Community Service Day a citywide event with dozens of services projects

Annual event set for Saturday, September 21

Folsom. Calif. – The 11th annual Community Service Day takes place Saturday, September 21, 2024.

This major citywide event mobilizes thousands of volunteers to complete dozens of service projects throughout Folsom. 

Citywide Food Drive

Bags Out by 8 a.m.

Folsom’s Community Service Day will feature a citywide food drive to support the Twin Lakes Food Bank. Volunteers will deliver empty grocery bags and a list of needed nonperishable food items to every household in Folsom. Please place your filled bag on your driveway by 8 a.m. on Saturday, September 21, so volunteers can collect it.

Top needed items:

  • Cereal
  • Canned tuna
  • Canned chicken
  • Canned ravioli
  • Pasta and pasta sauce
  • Canned fruit and vegetables
  • Pasta / Rice-A-Roni
  • Instant mashed potatoes

Your donation will directly support the Twin Lakes Food Bank and local families in need.

Community Blood Drive

Vitalant will host a Community Service Day blood drive from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, September 21 at Folsom Fire Station 35, 535 Glenn Drive, Folsom.

Schedule an appointment online in advance. Walk-ins are also welcome and will be accommodated as space allows. All donors will receive a special Vitalant donor T-shirt!

Donation Drive

Local organizations are collecting needed items from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday, September 21. Donations can be dropped off at the drive-through at Lakeside Church, 745 Oak Avenue Parkway.

Items collected for local community organizations include:

  • Bicycles for Children and Adults
  • Glasses
  • Yarn and Fabric
  • Happy Smiles Toy Drive
  • Purses, Makeup, and Jewelry
  • Shelter Pet Supplies
  • Hygiene Products
  • Christmas Gift Wrapping Supplies
  • New and Gently Used Coats
