Rocklin, Calif.- On May 15, 2007, while investigating a case in which two fraudulent checks were passed at the Bel Air Market in Rocklin, detectives from the Rocklin Police Department discovered an operation in which they found 231 fraudulent checks. Two suspects were arrested in connection with the check printing scheme.
Based upon significant leads, Detectives Mike Gandy and Brad Alford went to Beale’s Point campground at Folsom Lake in Placer County. They contacted two individuals who were staying in a tent. Inside the tent, the detectives found a computer printer and fraudulent checks drawn on 4 different banks with 12 different account numbers. They also found an altered California Identification card.
The passing of the fraudulent checks, bearing the name “Mark Haynes”, occured in Rocklin during late April and early May. Surveillance video isolated a dark sedan as the vehicle that the suspects arrived in and the spotting of the same vehicle helped lead detectives to the tent.
Both subjects had outstanding Placer County warrants and were found in possession of fraudulent checks and counterfeiting paraphernalia, i.e., a printer and software.
Arrested were Natasha Robinson, 26 years, transient, and Mark Haynes, 27 years, transient. Both were transported to the Placer County Jail and booked for various charges including burglary, conspiracy, and possession of fraudulent checks.
