Roseville, Calif.- Early this morning, Roseville Police officers arrested four young men on suspicion of writing graffiti on sound walls, fences, signs and other surfaces in neighborhoods near the intersection of Cirby Way and Sunrise Avenue.
At 12:42 a.m. Wednesday, August 20, a resident saw two males writing graffiti on a sound wall near Oakmont High School. The resident immediately called 911. The suspects fled when officers arrived in the area, but within a few hours, the officers had located and arrested four suspects.
Officers found graffiti damage on Cirby Way, Kensington Drive, and in Eastwood Park. Clean up costs are estimated in the thousands of dollars.
Officers arrested Brandon Jon Benvenuti, 19, Jerin Christopher Miller, 18, Moses Mauro John Rodriguez, 18, and a 16 year old male, all from Roseville, on suspicion of felony vandalism and conspiracy. The juvenile was booked and released to the custody of his parents. Benvenuti, Miller and Rodriguez were booked and released after posting $10,000 bail bonds.
A conviction for felony graffiti vandalism carries a possible sentence of up to a year in jail, 300 hours of community service, fines and restitution. The court routinely orders convicted graffiti vandals to pay restitution to property owners for damages and clean-up costs.
The City of Roseville has an aggressive graffiti clean-up program. Anyone who spots graffiti anywhere in Roseville is asked to report it by calling the Graffiti Hotline at (916)746-1021. The graffiti will be documented for future prosecution purposes, and promptly cleaned up.
