The Roseville Fire Department responded to a report of a residential structure fire at the intersection of Main and Berkeley. Upon arrival fire crews found several occupants of a center-hallway apartment house reporting fire in an apartment on the 1st floor.
Three engines, two ladder trucks, and several chief officers responded to the scene. The first arriving chief officer found smoke showing from the door of a 1st floor apartment. Police officers began evacuating all occupants from the 2-story apartment building while firefighters made access to the apartment on fire. Crews quickly brought the fire under control and determined that there were no victims in the apartment. A total of twenty personnel responded to the scene. Assistance was also provided by American Medical Response and Roseville Police.
There were no working smoke detectors inside the residence at the time of the fire. The Roseville Fire Department would like to remind you of the importance of having a working smoke detector in your home. Failure to do so could cost you your life. Had this fire occurred in the middle of the night while the occupants were sleeping, the lack of a working smoke detector may have proved fatal. Firefighters installed new smoke detectors in the home prior to leaving the scene.
There were no civilian or firefighter injuries. Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire. The damage from the fire was estimated to be approximately 10,000 dollars.
