Roseville, Calif.- Shortly after 7 p.m. last evening the Roseville Fire Department responded to an apartment fire located at 1098 Woodcreek Oaks Blvd., the Heritage Park Apartments. When fire crews arrived they found smoke and flames emitting from a two-story, eight-unit apartment building. Under the command of Battalion Chief Dean Grundy, firefighters quickly implemented an interior fire attack. The fire extended into the attic, causing safety concerns, and additional resources were requested. Four apartment units sustained fire, smoke and water damage.
A total of three alarms were requested, which involved a total of nine engines, two ladder trucks and four chief officers. The fire was brought under control within 28 minutes. One resident suffered from smoke inhalation causing difficulty breathing and was transported to the hospital.
All residents living in the affected building were displaced for the evening. Members of the Placer County Law Enforcement Chaplaincy Program, as well as the American Red Cross responded to provide support for the fire victims.
The Roseville Police Department assisted with traffic and fire scene control. The Placer County Fire Department/CAL FIRE also responded to the fire. The Rocklin Fire Department, South Placer Fire District and Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District also assisted by providing station coverage throughout the City of Roseville during the incident.
Firefighters remained on scene all night assisting with the investigation and overhauling the scene.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
