Lincoln, Calif. – Longtime Sierra College supporter Howard Rudd, a local financial planner, today announced that he is running for the Sierra College Board of Trustees to fill the Lincoln-area seat on the board now held by Barbara Vineyard, who is not seeking re-election.
Rudd, a past president of the Sierra College Foundation, which raises money to support students and programs at the College, said he would be honored to put his financial and business skills to work for the College at this critical time.
“Sierra College is a vital part of our community and a vital part of the economic success of our community,” Rudd said. “The College educates well over 20,000 students each year and the Trustees have a very important responsibility to set priorities to maximize the benefits for each student and our community.”
The Lincoln-area seat is one of seven on the Board of Trustees. Voters throughout the district, including Placer and Nevada counties and parts of Sacramento and El Dorado counties, are eligible to vote for each of the Trustees. There are four seats up for election this year.
In addition to his service on the Sierra College Foundation, Rudd also has served as a member of Sierra College’s Truckee Campus Bond Oversight Committee. He is also well-known for his extensive community involvement beyond Sierra College, including serving as President of the Roseville Chamber of Commerce in 2002 and President of Placer SPCA in 2003. He is also member of the boards of Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital Foundation and Roseville Arts.
Rudd himself attended a California community college before receiving his bachelor’s from the University of San Francisco and a post-graduate management certificate from San Francisco State.
“My goals as a Trustee are to provide quality education to all campuses, stimulate and nurture the existing collaborative decision making process and foster partnerships with business, government and non-profits to maximize the benefits of Sierra College,” Rudd said.
