Roseville, Calif.- A developmentally disabled 13-year-old Roseville boy missing since Friday afternoon has been located in good condition.
Employees of a store in the Creekside Shopping Center on Galleria Boulevard saw the boy in the store. The employees were aware of the ongoing search, and notified Roseville Police. The boy had apparently been wandering and visiting various stores since his disappearance Friday afternoon.
Roseville Police and Fire Department personnel searched for the boy in north central Roseville and surrounding areas yesterday evening. On Saturday, Roseville Police Department Explorers (high-school-age volunteers) distributed flyers about the missing boy at area businesses, including the Creekside Center. The City of Roseville’s emergency telephone notification system was activated, calling thousands of residents in the search area. The Placer County Sheriff’s Department helicopter assisted in the search by flying over Roseville’s creeks and open space areas.
Roseville Police Department staff will talk to the family about Project Lifesaver. Roseville PD’s Project Lifesaver program provides free radio-tracable bracelets to residents with memory disorders or other disabilities that may cause them to wander from caregivers. If a Project Lifesaver client wanders away, Roseville Police Department officers can search for them with tracking equipment. Project Lifesaver greatly shortens search times, and gives peace of mind to caregivers.
