Roseville Eyes 700 Acres of Unincorporated Land
Roseville, Calif., – Nearly 700 acres of unincorporated county land are now one step closer to being annexed into the City of Roseville.
The Placer County Board of Supervisors unanimously voted today to approve a tax sharing agreement with the city, a major milestone that must be completed prior to the proposed annexation moving forward. The agreement allocates a 58 percent share of future property tax revenue from the area to the county and a 42 percent share to the city. The tax sharing agreement ensures that county and city services are funded appropriately after an annexation occurs.
“We have worked hard to arrive at a business deal that protects the interests of county residents and ensures the delivery of essential services, such as law enforcement and fire,” said Placer County District 1 Supervisor Jack Duran.
The Amorous Ranch Specific Plan Annexation Area is a 694-acre, master-planned community with more than 2,800 dwellings that include low-, medium- and high-density developments. The proposed project includes 51 acres for commercial development along with 22 acres for neighborhood parks and 145 acres for open space. The project also includes a 3-acre fire station.
“We have worked hard to arrive at a business deal that protects the interests of county residents and ensures the delivery of essential services, such as law enforcement and fire,” said Placer County District 1 Supervisor Jack Duran. “Both jurisdictions are taking some educated risks and I believe the agreement is a win-win for both the city and county.”
Roseville’s population is expected to increase by nearly 7,500 people once the development is completely built out. The proposed master-planned community is located northwest of the current city limits, south of West Sunset Boulevard and approximately 1.5 miles west of Fiddyment Road.
In order to proceed with the annexation, both the county and the city must agree on the property tax revenue split to ensure continued financial support for the delivery of future services. Once both jurisdictions have executed the agreement, the proposed annexation will be considered by the Placer County Local Agency Formation Commission.
