Roseville Fire Opens New State-of-the-Art Fire Station

The City of Roseville will proudly open the doors of its newest fire station to the public on August 29th.  Roseville Fire Station No. 7 is now open for business.  Located at 911 Highland Pointe Drive, the new fire station will be dedicated in the memory of former Assistant Fire Chief Vincent L. Kelley Jr. during a special ceremony, which is open to everyone.  Chief Kelley was a 32 year veteran with the Roseville Fire Department.  He passed away in 1982.

A safe and healthy community is a top priority of the City.  Fire Station No. 7 is strategically located to provide the best emergency response times in North Central Roseville and the Highway 65 corridor.  This station is a key component to the overall fire protection plan to the area, as well as the citywide emergency resource deployment strategy.

The new fire station is home to seven firefighters, 24 hours a day.  With the opening of the new station, the City’s second ladder truck is also going into service.  Station 7 is home to Engine 7, Truck 7 and Rescue 7.  These resources comprise a ‘task force’.  In addition to the engine and truck, we have a medium rescue apparatus.  All of the personnel assigned to Station 7 have received and maintain currency in the very latest rescue technologies.  Should a significant event involving structural collapse or a confined space rescue occur, the engine, truck, and rescue would respond to the incident.  Fire Station No. 1, on Oak Street provides a similar task force response for hazardous materials incidents.

The 10,500 square foot facility was built at a cost of $4.3 million.  The funds were provided by a tax on new development; the fire facilities tax was approved by voters back in 1984.  This funding source has been a critical factor in the overall fire department capital improvement plan.  The design for Fire Station No. 7 is a prototype for future fire stations, a cost saving measure aimed at reducing fire station design expenses in the future.
