Roseville, Calif. – Following up on an alert citizen’s tip, Roseville Police and neighboring law enforcement agencies arrested two men Tuesday morning on suspicion of burglarizing three businesses. Two other suspects are still on the loose.
At 2:48 a.m. Tuesday, August 26, a citizen called police to report suspicious activity outside of Radio Shack, 920 Pleasant Grove Blvd. Two men were seen peeking into the windows of the business, then leaving in a red sedan. Officers confirmed that the business had been broken into and ransacked.
Officers from the Roseville and Rocklin Police Departments, the Placer County Sheriff’s Department and the California Highway Patrol responded to the area to assist in the search for the suspects. The suspect vehicle was spotted on State Route 65 near Galleria Boulevard. Officers detained two of the four occupants; the other two fled. Officers recovered several electronic items stolen from Radio Shack. The men are also suspected of burglarizing two other businesses during the early morning hours: Papa Murphy’s Pizza, 9260 Sierra College Boulevard, and Pizza Guys, 7451 Foothills Blvd.
Arrested were Joe Kenneth Ornelas, 20, and Justin David Roina, 18, both of Rio Linda, on suspicion of burglary, conspiracy, evading a police officer and resisting arrest. Roina remains in custody in the Placer County Jail on $15,000 bail. Ornelas, who is on felony probation in Sacramento County, is being held on $35,000 bail.
The other two suspects, who were not caught, were described as white males in their 20s. One wore a black shirt, blue jean shorts and black shoes; the other wore a black shirt, black and white checkered shorts, and black shoes.
