Huntington Beach providing $648,000 in Micro-Grants

Program supporting Small Businesses Impacted by COVID-19 begins April 5th

Huntington Beach, CA- Starting April 5, 2021, eligible small businesses in Huntington Beach can apply to receive $5,000 micro-grants being offered through the City’s COVID-19 Small Business Micro-Grant Program.

A total of $648,000 in funds will be distributed to support the Huntington Beach small businesses which form the backbone of our local economy.

“We’re hopeful that our Micro-Grant Program will serve as an additional lifeline to help small businesses get through to the end of this pandemic and into more prosperous times, as COVID-19 rates continue to decline,”said Huntington Beach Mayor Kim Carr.

Lottery process

Approximately 125 micro-grants in the amount of $5,000 each will be distributed by lottery to eligible businesses for allowable expenses such as rent, utilities, or COVID-related personal protective equipment. Grant applications will be accepted starting April 5, 2021 at 8:00 a.m. through April 12, 2021 at 5:00 p.m.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for the Huntington Beach Small Business Micro-Grant Program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Employ no fewer than two and no more than ten full-or-part-time W2 employees;
  • Independently owned and operated with the principal office in Huntington Beach;
  • Attest to being negatively affected by COVID-19;
  • Hold a valid business license in the City of Huntington Beach

The City of Huntington Beach is committed to distributing these funds to small businesses as quickly as possible, while ensuring the program is thoroughly marketed to all segments of the business community.

“As residents, we need to do all we can to support our small businesses by shopping local and dining at our restaurants here in Huntington Beach,” said Mayor Carr. “This Micro-Grant Program will let us do what we can to provide some support to our businesses that have weathered through these very difficult times.”
