New regional transit option is coming to South Placer County this fall.
Roseville, Calif. – Rapid Link, an express transit service operated by Roseville Transit, is scheduled to begin service Thursday, October 1, 2026, connecting Lincoln, Roseville and the Watt/I-80 Light Rail Station in Sacramento.
The new service is designed to make it easier for residents to travel between communities in South Placer County and connect with Sacramento's regional light rail system.
Rapid Link connects key Roseville destinations
According to the City of Roseville, Rapid Link will provide service between the Lincoln Park & Ride at Industrial Avenue and Highway 65 and the Watt Avenue/I-80 Light Rail Station.
Along the way, buses will stop at several major Roseville destinations, including:
- Galleria Transfer Point
- Sutter Roseville Medical Center
- Kaiser Roseville Medical Center
- Watt Avenue and I-80 Light Rail Station
The route gives residents in Lincoln another public transportation option for reaching major destinations in Roseville while also providing a connection to Sacramento Regional Transit and the light rail network.
Weekday service runs throughout the day
Rapid Link will operate Monday through Friday, with buses scheduled approximately hourly during the service day.
Southbound service begins in Lincoln in the morning, with the first listed departure at 6:42 a.m. and arrival at the Watt/I-80 Light Rail Station at approximately 7:42 a.m.
Northbound service begins at the Watt/I-80 station at 6:48 a.m., arriving at the Lincoln Park & Ride at approximately 7:36 a.m.
The City notes that times at several stops are approximate and that riders should check the current schedule when planning a trip.
Connecting Roseville with Sacramento's light rail system
One of the most significant features of Rapid Link is its connection with the Watt/I-80 Light Rail Station.
That connection allows passengers traveling from Lincoln and Roseville to transfer to Sacramento Regional Transit services. Rapid Link is also designed to connect with other transportation systems, including Placer County Transit, Sacramento Regional Transit and Yuba-Sutter Transit.
For Roseville residents, the service adds another option for reaching the regional transit network without having to drive all the way into Sacramento.
Free fares initially
The City of Roseville says Rapid Link fares will be free for a limited time as the new service launches.
The introductory fare is intended to give residents an opportunity to try the new transit connection and see how it fits into their daily travel.
Part of a larger South Placer transportation plan
Rapid Link is part of the Placer-Sacramento Gateway Plan, a regional transportation initiative focused on improving mobility and connections along one of the Sacramento area's heavily traveled transportation corridors.
The service is being operated through a partnership involving Roseville Transit, the Placer County Transportation Planning Agency, Placer County Transit, Yuba-Sutter Transit, Sacramento Regional Transit and the City of Lincoln.
How to plan a Rapid Link trip

Rapid Link buses will also accommodate passengers using mobility devices, with ramps and a kneeling feature designed to make boarding easier. Buses are equipped with bike racks, giving riders another option for combining cycling with public transportation.
