Part of 16th Annual Placer Feed My Starving Children MobilePack
Rocklin, Calif. – Nearly 2,000 volunteers packed 426,168 meals for malnourished children at the 16th annual Placer Feed My Starving Children MobilePack, held Sept. 17-19 in Rocklin.
The event's lead sponsors were the Moseley Collins Law Firm, which covered the cost of 100,000 of the meals packed, and St. Matthew Lutheran Church, which covered the cost of 50,000 meals and was the official host for the event.
With this year's totals, local volunteers have packed nearly 7.6 million meals over 16 years.
"The sad fact is that every day children in impoverished countries die from starvation," said Moseley Collins, a local pastor and attorney who has sponsored 1.1 million meals over the last 10 years of MobilePacks. "Partnering with Feed My Starving Children, local volunteers took action to alleviate the suffering of these children, making a real difference in the fight against hunger."

"As we packed these meals, we remember that every single meal makes a difference in the life of a child. This MobilePack gives our local volunteers, including many young people, the chance to be a part of making a difference."
This year's volunteers included groups from St. Matthew Lutheran Church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Whitney High School Cheer team, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, John Adams Academy Scholars, Valley Springs Presbyterian Church, The Pointe Church, American Heritage Girls, Holy Trinity Church, Lifehouse Church, Destiny Church, Bayside Church and HighRidge Church. Many businesses also sent teams of employees to pack as well.
Additional sponsors of this year's event include: Financial Advisor Douglas M. Brauer of Telos Legacy Financial and Trudy van Dyk of TruCalifornia Real Estate, who each sponsored 35,000 meals; Annie's SnoBiz; Valley Springs Presbyterian Church; The Pointe Church; Rocklin Rotary Club; Gold Rush Foundation (F3); and Doug Macfarlane of Baird Financial. The event also received a grant from the Allstate Foundation, recognizing the volunteer work of its employees.
