Roseville Welcomes Placer SPCA’s 8,800-Square-Foot Veterinary Facility

Placer SPCA Celebrates Grand Opening of New Veterinary and Foster Care Center

Roseville, Calif. – Placer SPCA recently celebrated the grand opening of its new Veterinary and Foster Care Center, marking a major milestone in the organization’s mission to provide compassionate, high-quality care for animals throughout Placer County and the surrounding region.

What began as a hopeful idea shared by a few grew into a collective vision embraced by many. Through years of dedication, collaboration, and extraordinary generosity, that vision has become a reality: an 8,800-square-foot, medical-grade facility designed to expand lifesaving services for animals most in need.

Ribbon Cutting ceremony

Strengthening ability to serve

The milestone celebration featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by a community open house, welcoming more than 300 community members for a first look inside the new Center. The event was attended by 12 elected officials, Placer SPCA board members, volunteers, donors, media representatives, and community supporters. Guests toured the facility and learned firsthand how the expanded space will allow Placer SPCA to strengthen medical care, recovery, and foster support.

The Veterinary and Foster Care Center significantly strengthens Placer SPCA’s ability to serve vulnerable shelter animals while also supporting pets and families throughout the community. Each year, Placer SPCA cares for thousands of animals, helping create lasting bonds and bringing companionship and joy to individuals, couples, and families across the region.

Expanded capacity to deliver high-quality services

  • Quadrupling spay and neuter surgeries to help control the local animal population and prevent animal homelessness
  • Speeding medical care for shelter animals to reduce time in intake and lower the risk of infection
  • Increasing capacity to offer vaccinations, microchipping, medical, and dental procedures
  • Creating an isolation ward to treat contagious animals without risking the health of other animals in the Center’s population
  • Expanding medical care through additional pharmacy and laboratory space
  • Providing a safer, more comfortable recovery environment for animals after medical procedures
  • Supporting foster families more effectively, allowing animals in foster care to receive more timely medical attention and placement
  • Offering hands-on training for veterinary students, thus helping address regional veterinary staff shortages

“This Center represents years of vision, planning, and compassion,” said Leilani Fratis, Chief Executive Officer of Placer SPCA. “It allows us to say ‘yes’ to more animals who need us and ensures they receive timely, high-quality care when it matters most.”
