20,000 jobs and CSU campus of 25,000 students projected
Roseville, Calif. – Placer Ranch announced that it has approached the City of Roseville about processing the land use entitlements for the Placer Ranch Specific Plan, including the annexation of the project site into the City of Roseville.
Placer Ranch is located in the unincorporated area of Placer County and is part of the Sunset Industrial Area which borders the cities of Roseville, Rocklin and Lincoln with approximately 56% of the project falling within Roseville's sphere of influence. Placer Ranch shares three miles of common boundary and important roadway connections, and is located in close proximity to current City residents. Plans for the land include a donation of land for a Sacramento State campus including campus housing, office space, commercial and residential land uses.
The project team sent a letter to the City of Roseville encouraging them to study the development plans and requested that an action item be set on the first available city council agenda so that their request for annexation and processing of the land use entitlements could be considered by the City.
"The City of Roseville is known throughout the region for delivering high quality services in a fiscally conservative manner, with responsibility to its citizens," said Holly Tiche, president of Placer Ranch.
The Placer Ranch Specific Plan proposes the development of an almost 300 acre branch campus of Sacramento State; 9,000,000 square feet of commercial, industrial and office uses; and approximately 5,000 residential units. The project is planned to generate approximately 20,000 jobs and the donated acreage to Sac State is planned with the goal of becoming an independent CSU campus of 25,000 students. Buildout of the project is anticipated over a 25-30 year period.
