Placer Business Resource Center now open in Rocklin

Placer Business Resource Center

Rocklin, Calif.- Continuing its commitment to the business community, Placer County opened the doors of its new Placer Business Resource Center recently, offering a one-stop-shop for business development services at no or low cost.

“Anything we can do to help nurture people who want to open a business startup is a great thing for the community,” said Placer County District 2 Supervisor Robert Weygandt. “Entrepreneurialism is a great energy to the extent that people can focus on their own business and take control over their lives.”

The Placer Business Resource Center is designed to help everyone from entrepreneurs looking to launch a startup to established businesses wanting to grow. Their services include workshops and classes, one-on-one advising, hiring assistance, and permit and regulatory assistance.

“The Business Resource Center is not only important for Placer but for our cities,” said Placer County Board Chair and District 3 Supervisor Jim Holmes. “There are plenty of opportunities and resources available to help guide businesses and get them off to a good start.”

Workshops and classes are presented by highly-experienced business experts and local professionals and include a wide array of topics including business basics, business plan development, financing for small businesses, loan readiness, how to develop an idea into a business, accounting and more.

In partnership with the Service Corps of Retired Executives and Small Business Development Centers, the Placer Business Resource Center also offers free, confidential one-on-one advising by appointment on strategic planning, cash flow management, site selection, and building marketing and social media campaigns.

The Placer Business Resource Center can help with hiring, too; providing employers access to conference room and interview space to recruit and interview new staff, hiring incentive programs and organized job fairs – all at no cost.

Placer’s Business Advantage Network hiring resources are available through the Business Resource Center. BAN offers a dedicated workforce development team that provides free hiring assistance to employers in Placer County and access to a job advertisement email distribution list that reaches thousands of local job seekers, schools, career centers and workforce development professionals.

Placer Business Resource Center staff are also available to help business owners navigate through regulatory and permitting processes for business licenses, business regulation requirements, zoning and land use and building permits.

“We understand that permits and regulations can be confusing and a major roadblock for aspiring and savvy business owners alike,” said Placer County Economic Development Office Director Sherri Conway. “The Placer Business Resource Center has the capacity to identify and address specific issues in the regulatory and permitting process, helping set up a business to achieve success.”

Conway noted that while the Placer Business Resource Center serves all of Placer County, including the communities in Roseville, Rocklin, Lincoln and Auburn, community members in eastern Placer County can also receive similar services from the Sierra Business Council located in Truckee.

The Placer Business Resource Center is open Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is located at 1000 Sunset Boulevard, Suite 105, in Rocklin.
