Reflecting back and moving forward; Roseville Joint Union HSD

Building on strength and teamwork

Roseville, Calif.- While many of us are spending January tackling New Year's resolutions, I encourage you to first look back at 2021. Instead of looking into the future, I've found pride in looking back at how far we've come this last year.

Throughout 2021, I saw our community and campuses working together to tackle the challenges presented, at nearly every corner. That teamwork between staff, students and families was some of the strongest I have ever seen in my years in education. We all had a common goal: to bring our students back to campus and keep them there safely. That common goal united all of us and in this new year, my goal is to continue building on that strength and teamwork.

2022 Kick Off

To kick off 2022, RJUHSD is focusing on student registration for the 2022-23 school year. New families from our middle schools will register their student(s) through the 8th grade registration process beginning in February and returning students can register through their school counselor. The sooner we can get families registered, the better we are able to staff our campuses.

New Board Officers

I would like to thank our board of education for helping us prepare for the 2022-23 school year. As a team, we attended the California School Board Association conference as a means to further develop our knowledge of governance and best practices within the education community. The board recently named their new officers for the coming year, so please join me in congratulating Scott Huber, President; Julie Hirota, Vice President; and Pete Constant, Clerk.

Did you know our board also works closely with many District committees to ensure the quality of education and students' experience at RJUHSD? Each year, the Athletics Liaison, Board Policy Review Committee, City and Community Liaison, Finance/Facilities Committee, Independent Citizens' Oversight Committee and Student Board Representative Liaison work together with our board to achieve our District goals that ignite, inspire and prepare our students for the world ahead of them.

I'm thankful to lead a high quality school district. It's a place where we come together to always put students and their educational needs first.

John Becker
Roseville Joint Union High School District Superintendent
