Roseville, Calif – Water is too precious to use just once. That’s why Roseville blazed the trail to develop a “new” water source for a sustainable future.
Roseville’s recycled water program, which started in the 1990s with a single commercial customer, has since grown to become an important and safe resource. Now, residents and businesses looking for ways to keep their landscapes healthy – especially high-valued trees – can now take advantage of recycled water.
Available at a fill station near Roseville’s Pleasant Grove Water Treatment Plant, recycled water is highly treated wastewater that otherwise would be discharged into local creeks.
Using recycled water to hand irrigate landscapes provides an offset to drinking water usage and still allows customers to water trees, gardens, vegetables and lawns.
For a nominal annual fee, residential Roseville utility customers can collect up to 300 gallons of water per visit, and commercial customers delivering to businesses can collect more. They must fill out an application, attend a training session and supply their own containers.
This new service is just one of the ways Roseville is expanding the program to meet the growing environmental needs the City continues to face and to create a more diverse and expansive water supply portfolio.
