Treehouse Masters Christmas Episode Filmed in Placer County

Production stayed in Roseville for lodging, catering and equipment

Granite Bay, Calif.- The Christmas episode of the very popular TV series “Treehouse Masters” was shot entirely in Placer County.

Wrapping up his second season, Master Treehouse builder and host Pete Nelson builds a one-of-a-kind treehouse – a ski lodge without the snow – just in time for the holidays in western Placer County on a private estate. 

Roseville / Granite Bay

Production was very pleased with their experience working in our area. Production manager Caitlin Parkin pointed out, “With so many vendors easily accessible, Granite Bay was very production friendly!  3G Construction stepped up and installed all of the reclaimed wood and siding for the Treehouse. Bret Dismukes was a huge help by working with local inspectors and trades. It was great to have so many local vendors help complete this project!”

According to the Placer-Lake Tahoe Film Office which works to promote production countywide and facilitate permits and other needs, the production stayed in Roseville for November and spent over $100,000 with local businesses, contractor supplies, labor, and production needs such as lodging, rental equipment, catering, dry cleaning, fuel, and much more while capturing the drama and excitement of building this unique family get-away.

Treetop Candy Kitchen – Christmas Episode

“Santa Pete” and his merry band of elves head down to Northern California with the purpose of elevating one client’s family tradition to the trees! For generations, the Splinter family has celebrated the holidays with candy making on its vineyard, and this year, the family brings the ancestral candy making to new heights. When the crew member’s sleigh lands, the family whips up a full-scale, stainless-steel candy kitchen and wine bar inside a 500-square-foot ski lodge treehouse with barrel ceilings, loft bedroom and even a shower to wash off all the sticky sugar residue. But completing Pete’s first-ever chef’s kitchen in the trees, which is 11 feet in the air, could take a Christmas miracle to finish. The combined strength of 14 camphor trees might not be enough to hold this mega-kitchen. Pete and his team must harness the awesome power of ultra-strong steel to give this family the best Christmas gift ever. Looks like someone was on Santa’s nice list this year!
