Sacramento Cooling Centers open as daytime temperature soar into triple digits

Heatwave arrives in Sacramento

Sacramento, Calif. – Summer heat is on in full force and cooling centers throughout Sacramento County have been activated. All community members are welcome. Residents are encouraged to call 2-1-1 or visitĀ 211sacramento.orgĀ before accessing a cooling center for the most up to date information on locations, days and operating hours. Residents are also encouraged to access existing cooling spaces such as libraries and community centers around the county.

Where allowed, pets must be on a leash or contained in an animal carrier at all times.

Sacramento Regional Transit (SacRT) will be providing vouchers for free rides to and from the cooling centers for this event.Ā Riders can Ride Free with the Flyer provided by RT​  by printing the flyer or showing it on a digital device.Ā  Free rides are good for two hours before and after cooling center hours.Ā
