Lincoln, Calif. – Placer County and the Buzz Oats development company hosted a ceremonial groundbreaking for the Placer Commerce Center on Tuesday morning, celebrating a bright future for business, innovation and high-wage jobs in west Placer.
The Placer Commerce Center is a major business park that will attract high-wage employers in research and development, warehousing, distribution, e-commerce fulfillment, flex spaces, and in light industrial and manufacturing.
20-year buildout
Buzz Oates anticipates investing $750 million to $1 billion over the next 20 years of buildout, and the project is being spurred forward by a $28 million infrastructure investment into west Placer by the Placer County Board of Supervisors.
Upon completion, it is estimated that between 3,500 and 5,000 people will be employed at the Placer Commerce Center, depending on end users.
“We are excited about the future of the Placer Commerce Center. We envision it becoming a major economic engine for West Placer County, attracting diverse industries, fostering innovation, and providing high-quality jobs for our residents,” said Board of Supervisors’ Chair Bonnie Gore. “This hub will both strengthen our local economy and enhance the quality of life in our community.”
393 acres
The Placer Commerce Center will be located on 393 acres on Athens Avenue and North Foothills Boulevard in unincorporated Lincoln. Placer County has long-planned west Placer as a place that residents can own a home, maintain a short commute to work and have shopping, dining and recreation nearby.

“By fostering innovation, attracting top talent, and creating a balanced, sustainable community, the Placer Commerce Center will be a crucial part of what keeps Placer County a truly exceptional place to live, work, raise a family, own a business and retire.”
