Each summer for more years than we can recall, returning to one of this country’s most magical of summer destinations has been sheer delight. Oregon has become one of our de facto second homes, a place of rugged beauty that is paired with an ease of access that has drawn us back year after year.

The 1967 Beach Bill made it reality. ~300 miles of mother nature’s audacity on display for all to enjoy free of charge. Wise and progressive thinking over 50 years ago makes sure the beauty and benefits are available to future generations.

Even during peak season, finding solitude along the coast is quite easy. 300+ miles of heavily forested coastline, coves, campgrounds and parks make it easy to stake your private temporary sanctuary on or near the beach. The restorative power is amazing and so are many of the campgrounds. Note: You may camp almost anywhere free of charge on Federal Forest and BLM properties. Check regulations to verify.

7- Water, Water, Everywhere
Short excursions on byways and forest logging roads just off the coast offer splendid opportunities to explore some of the endless waterfalls, quiet creeks, raging rivers and waterways that inundate the coast. The northern portion of the coast from Lincoln County to Astoria are particularly noteworthy.
