❤️7 reasons we love the Oregon Coast

Oregon, A Magical Summer Destination

Portland, OR – Many moons ago, while trekking up the West Coast to British Columbia, like so many others, we fell in love with natural beauty of the Oregon Coast. Each summer for more years than we can recall, returning to one of this country's most magical of summer destinations has been sheer delight. Oregon has become one of our de facto second homes, a place of rugged beauty that is paired with an ease of access that has drawn us back year after year.

An outdoor lover's paradise, here's our top reasons Oregon is always worth a summer visit.

Top 7 Reasons We Love the Oregon Coast

1- Summer Weather
Clear, sunny and warm days with a cool breeze have been the norm. Still be prepared for cool nights and dress in layers for beach play.

2- Coastal Access – 1967 Beach Bill
The people of Oregon realized free and universal access to this magnificent coast should be everyone's right. The 1967 Beach Bill made it reality. ~300 miles of mother nature's audacity on display for all to enjoy free of charge. Wise and progressive thinking over 50 years ago makes sure the beauty and benefits are available to future generations.

3- Camping Solitude
Even during peak season, finding solitude along the coast is quite easy. 300+ miles of heavily forested coastline, coves, campgrounds and parks make it easy to stake your private temporary sanctuary on or near the beach. The restorative power is amazing and so are many of the campgrounds. Note: You may camp almost anywhere free of charge on Federal Forest and BLM properties. Check regulations to verify.

4- The Views
Nature lovers may find themselves taking more pictures along a trip the Oregon Coast than most places. The geography and wildlife are a sensory thrill for the senses. Did we mention how green and lush everything can be? Bring an extra memory card.

5- Eclectic People
It takes something a little special to endure life on the Oregon coast and from top to bottom, Oregon contains hearty souls who thrive there. The Oregon Coast is dotted with countless mom n' pop shops and restaurants. We always find the locals engaging and full of fascinating stories.

6- Hiking
Get adventurous and hike the 382-mile Coast Trail or take an easier local trek virtually anywhere along the majestic coast. From rain forests, elk filled meadows to wind-whipped beaches Oregon astound hikes of all abilities. Faves: Bob Straub State Park, Ecola State Park, Cascade Head, Nestucca Bay area

7- Water, Water, Everywhere
Short excursions on byways and forest logging roads just off the coast offer splendid opportunities to explore some of the endless waterfalls, quiet creeks, raging rivers and waterways that inundate the coast. The northern portion of the coast from Lincoln County to Astoria are particularly noteworthy.

The Oregon Coast never fails to impress. When not out enjoying the great outdoors, it's fun to explore the artsy local gift shops, great craft beers stops and local eateries along the way. Oregon remains one of America's magical summer destinations.
