Downtown Napa ready with spring happenings

Explore what’s new in Napa

NAPA, Calif., – Downtown Napa is the premier Napa Valley experience. This spring and summer, discover new places to stay, sip and play in wine country’s most walkable destination.

The warm California sun is shining as adventure seekers return to this iconic California destination. Check out what’s new and what’s planned for Downtown Napa for spring and summer 2021.

New Lodging:

Opened March 15, The George is a new generation luxury boutique inn located in the heart of Downtown Napa. The restored Queen Anne style Victorian home was originally built in 1891 and is part of the National Register of Historic Places. The inn features nine rooms, self-check-in, smart TVs, heated bathroom floors, Molton Brown luxury amenities, local coffee and more. Coming soon on-site is a speakeasy space for wine tasting, movie nights and a Peloton studio for guest use.

Cambria Hotel Napa Valley, conveniently located within walking distance of Downtown Napa shopping and restaurants, has delayed the opening to December 2021. The property will feature 90 guest rooms, an outdoor pool with a sun deck and a poolside bar, a fitness center, bicycle rentals, as well as a full-service restaurant and bar serving locally inspired dishes and regional craft beers.

New Outdoor Arts & Entertainment:

Napa Wrap Art is a new outdoor public art project featuring transformed utility boxes into works of art, which will be complete by the end of spring. Thirteen regional artists were selected to create diverse designs that are being transferred to durable vinyl to wrap around Downtown Napa utility boxes. The goal of the project is to provide an opportunity to turn ordinary objects into something special that both locals and visitors can enjoy.

Napa Art Walk, a biennial, outdoor sculpture exhibit along the streets of Downtown Napa, will unveil new art pieces this July. The new rotation of sculptures will be united by a theme titled “Play” featuring kinetic artworks. New artists will be announced soon and sculptures will stay on display until Spring 2023.

Oxbow RiverStage, an outdoor festival-style venue, announced the official return of open-air concerts with the first show set to take place June 5 featuring a virtuosic guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabriela. More shows and protocol adjustments will be announced soon.

New Food & Drink:

A favorite among locals and visitors, Oxbow Public Market continues to expand. Milestone Provisions is anticipated to open this spring and will feature three concepts under one stand – The Butchery, The Eatery and The Creamery. The Butchery will provide award-winning, natural, hormone and antibiotic-free beef, The Eatery will focus on California country cooking, serving hearty breakfasts and plates, tasty sandwiches, as well as jarred jams, pickled vegetables and other provisions. The Creamery will feature a changing selection of house-made ice-cream, as well as classic cookies and comforting pies to complement the frozen delights.

This spring, Fieldwork Brewing Company is expanding its Downtown Napa location with a new outdoor beer garden and increasing its indoor taproom capacity at the Oxbow Public Market Annex. Fieldwork Brewing opened its taproom at Oxbow Public Market in 2016, which will remain open until the grand opening of their new nearby location. At the adjacent Annex, Fieldwork is building out its indoor footprint to 1,450 square feet with an additional 900 square feet outside for a European-style beer garden. The new Fieldwork Taproom and Beer Garden will overlook the Napa River and Oxbow Commons green space and will be located next to The Fatted Calf and Model Bakery.

Planned for Summer 2021

Anticipated to open this August, Wilfred’s Lounge will be Napa’s first tiki lounge serving island-inspired wine cocktails. The new bar and restaurant will pay homage to the Hawaiian heritage of Nat Komes, a Napa Valley native and second-generation winegrower behind the concept. The space will be decorated with a pirate ship lair, tiki statues, bamboo stalks and more.

Another wine destination to open in Downtown Napa this summer is Vineyard 29. The new wine tasting room will join First Street Napa and combine time-honored wines with a new world technology concept. Visitors will also drink for a good cause – Vineyard 29 contributes its large format and specially etched bottles to help raise money for organizations that support research and delivery of health care and access to education innovations for K-12 students and teachers.
