Mountain View hires Micaela Hellman-Tincher as New Housing Manager

Mountain View, Calif. – The City of Mountain View is pleased to announce the hiring of Micaela Hellman-Tincher as the City's new Housing Manager. Hellman-Tincher is an experienced public policy professional with a demonstrated history of working in affordable housing development, affordable housing preservation and homelessness prevention programs.

The Housing Manager position is integral to the City achieving its strategic priorities of intentional development and increased housing options and building a community for all, which makes Hellman-Tincher's hire very timely. Her start date is August 23.

"I'm thrilled to work in a City committed to being inclusive and just," said Hellman-Tincher, incoming Housing Manager. "In our increasingly expensive area, housing is critical to ensuring that Mountain View can be home to all who make the community whole. I look forward to working with neighbors, community organizations and City staff to implement innovative solutions to the housing and affordability crises we are facing."

Hellman-Tincher has worked on building healthy and inclusive communities near and far, and is looking forward to joining the Mountain View team to serve the city she calls home. She most recently served as the policy director for Santa Clara County Supervisor Joe Simitian, where she worked on housing, social services, immigration and other issues facing the County of Santa Clara. Previously Hellman-Tincher worked for nonprofits in San Francisco and Rwanda, and in advocacy in Washington, DC. She has a Master of Arts degree in International Policy Studies from Stanford University and a bachelor's degree in Economics and International Relations from George Washington University. Hellman-Tincher is originally from the area, and enjoys serving the community where she grew up and has returned to live.

Hellman-Tincher will manage the City's Housing Division, including implementation/administration of the Below Market Rate Housing program, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's Community Development Block Grant/HOME program, and Notice of Funding Availability for new affordable housing projects program. She will also help lead key housing initiatives as part of the City's Strategic Plan and priorities.
