Roseville Joint Union High School District
Roseville, Calif. – It took a little longer this year, but the crisp mornings and breezy evenings have finally arrived, ushering in a season of gratitude. I find myself especially thankful for our vibrant campuses, where passionate students are dedicated to pursuing their dreams. Every time I witness a student fully immersed in a project or class they love, I’m reminded that education is like planting a seed-one that grows and nurtures the belief in their own potential, even in the face of challenges or doubt.
This November, I’d like to share a story that truly reflects the resilience and ambition that define our district.
Margarita Espinoza
Margarita Espinoza, a student at Roseville Adult School (RAS), exemplifies the opportunities RJUHSD provides and serves as a powerful reminder of what we are grateful for. Margarita began her journey in our ESL program, then advanced to pursue her GED in Spanish, which she successfully passed. From there, she enrolled in our Integrated Education and Training (IET) program, designed to help ESL students transition into Medical Assisting programs.
Over a 10-week period, she honed her academic vocabulary, improved her English skills, and practiced real-world tasks like communicating with patients and taking medical histories. After completing the IET program, Margarita seamlessly transitioned into the Medical Assisting course, passed her State certification exam, and was just offered a job last week. We couldn’t be more proud of her accomplishments and the programs that support students like Margarita in reaching their goals.
Opportunities for these kinds of academic achievements and celebrations are present in every corner of our district, waiting for students to discover their perfect fit. Whether it’s through Visual and Performing Arts, Career Technical Education in fields like automotive or robotics, athletics such as girls flag football, or programs like Student Government and clubs like the Society of Women Engineers or Environmental Club-there’s a passion waiting to be ignited in every student. Encourage your student to explore and fan the flames of their interests.
This November, I invite you to join me in celebrating stories like Margarita’s-stories of perseverance, achievement, and inspiration. They remind us of the far-reaching impact education can have, and the transformative power of discovering your passion. As our students and staff continue their hard work this year, we look forward to hearing many more success stories. If your student has one to share, we’d love to hear it at [email protected]
