Lunch with Wine in Placer County
Lincoln, Calif. – It's just before noon on this Wednesday, an unseasonably cool summer day in South Placer County and we're looking for a quiet celebration away from the bustle of the predictable business lunch crowd.
We jump online and look to the Placer County Wine Trail. Although this marketing moniker has failed to stir our imagination or inspire us quite like Wine Country does, we've heard many positive things about Wise Villa and enjoy keeping our dollars local as much as possible, so we're giving it a try.
Today's adventure: Wise Villa Winery in Lincoln, CA.
Being big fans of Napa, Sonoma, Amador and El Dorado counties, we must admit our expectations were more on the low side. We mapped the destination, added it to GPS and away we went.
Shortly after exiting Highway 65 and going through town, we encounter single lane country roads dotted with quaint farms, horses, cows and a bucolic atmosphere that we too often forget is a defining and important part of South Placer County. Following the short and enjoyable drive to Wise Road, we look up and gaze at the Wise Villa Winery beautifully perched on the hillside surrounded by lush vineyards. The drive up the hill livens up our moods.
Casual Vibes & Good Wine
Upon entering the Bistro, we're greeted by the friendly staff and seat ourselves outside to soak in the amazing views. The casual vibe aligns perfectly with the scenery and a glass of wine or two. We order up a Pinot Noir and chilled Sangria before dining on a lunch of salmon, flatbread and caesar salad. The food and wine deliciously exceed our expectations.
We spend another hour or so enjoying each other's company in a spectacular setting in this amazing part of the country we're fortunate enough to call home.
