Agape International in Roseville Combats Sex Trafficking

Mission to stop sex trafficking locally and around the world

Roseville, Calif. – Agape International Missions (AIM) has added three employees who will help the nonprofit and its long-standing effort to combat sex trafficking in Cambodia.

The Roseville-based organization has hired Gilbert Acevedo III as development officer, Nancy Gugino as finance manager and Renee Love as office administrator and volunteer coordinator.

“Gilbert, Nancy and Renee will play major roles in helping expand AIM and further its mission to stop sex trafficking, a global problem, from here in the Sacramento region to half way around the world in Cambodia,” said Don Brewster, director and founder of AIM.

Acevedo also serves as CEO and founder of Modern Abolition and most recently was the senior high pastor and director of smallGROUPS at Bayside Church in Granite Bay. He is a former junior high pastor at Grace Church in Long Beach and a character designer/conceptual designer for Super 78 in Hollywood.

Gugino is a former accountant and financial consultant for Courage to Be You, a Rocklin-based nonprofit that provides a home for girls rescued from sex trafficking in Northern California. She is a former technical sales support representative for Symitar Systems, vice president of financial and chief financial officer for First US Community Credit Union in Sacramento, and an accountant for Sacramento Credit Union.

Love comes to AIM after serving as ministry coordinator for Adventure Christian Church in Roseville. She will also continue to serve as an AIM volunteer.

“All three employees have a commitment to ending sex trafficking,” Mr. Brewster said. “AIM is more than a job, it’s truly a mission for them – and all of our employees and volunteers.”

About Agape International Missions

In response to the problem of human trafficking, Agape International Missions (AIM) in 2005 began focusing its efforts on ending this travesty in Cambodia’s epicenter of child sex-trafficking, Svay Pak. AIM opened Agape Restoration Center in August 2006, providing holistic, long-term after-care for rescued girls, and in September 2007, opened a community center, Rahab’s House, in a former brothel in the heart of Svay Pak, where sex slavery is the norm for every girl by the age of 10. Programs have grown to Prevent, Rescue, Restore and Equip others to do the same.
