Watershed Health & Safety Night to focus on Creeks in Roseville

Eich Middle School on Wednesday, November 19

Roseville, Calif.- The water season is here! Friends of Meadow Oaks, a community based group in Roseville, along with guest speakers from several organizations, will present “Watershed Health & Safety Night” at Eich Middle School on Wednesday, November 19 from 7:00-8:30 pm.

All interested are welcome to attend.

The focus on Cirby and Linda Creek(s) will be of special interest to those living in the Sierra Gardens, Meadow Oaks, Maidu and Cirby Side neighborhoods of Roseville. Cirby and Linda creeks are part of the Dry Creek Watershed which covers an area of 101 square miles in Placer and Sacramento Counties. The Cities of Rocklin and Roseville and the Town of Loomis are wholly or partially contained within the watershed. Other unincorporated communities in the watershed include Granite Bay, Penryn, Newcastle, Orangevale, and Rio Linda.

Flood hazard mitigation, habitat, & watershed health indicators

Watershed Health & Safety Night presentations will look at flood hazard mitigation, habitat, and watershed health indicators. Dry Creek Conservancy and the Placer County Resource Conservation District will highlight ongoing stewardship projects and opportunities to get involved. Other presenters include City of Roseville Public Works, Leave it to Beavers LLC, and Valley Foothill Watersheds Collaborative.

To attend the event, anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. To find the event, enter the Eich Campus at Coloma Way and Oak Ridge Drive and follow the signs. “Water is a critical resource that we all depend on,” says event organizer Jennifer Chapman.
