Replacement bridge meets 100-year flood standards
Roseville, Calif.- A grand opening ceremony was held May 5 for the new bridge that takes Cook Riolo Road over Dry Creek in southwestern Placer County.
The bridge is located between PFE and Vineyard roads.
Jack Duran, District 1 Supervisor and Chairman of the Board of Supervisors; Ken Grehm, Placer County Public Works Director; and Brad Tooker, Dry Creek Joint Elementary School District Superintendent, were scheduled to speak during the ceremony.
The new bridge was built to replace an old one-lane structure that was subject to flooding.
The replacement bridge meets 100-year flood standards. It is 350 feet long, 52 feet wide and farther above the creek than its predecessor.
It features two 12-foot traffic lanes, two 8-foot shoulders and a dedicated 10-foot lane for bicyclists and pedestrians that is separated from vehicle traffic by a concrete barrier.
The Public Works Department worked with area residents and members of the West Placer Municipal Advisory Council to design a bridge that meets current standards, but is in keeping with the rural character favored by residents.
